Computer Classes
If you are one of the many who have asked about computer classes, we have heard you. Michael Baumann (our director) will be teaching computer classes in February. You may register in advance (beginning now until February 6) to reserve one of our computers, but this is not required. If you have a laptop computer, bring it. You may call the library at 286-5791 to register. Following is the schedule of classes: February 7 Computer 101 (selecting a computer and basic use), February 14 General Internet (searching, browsing, and printing), February 21 Microsoft Office, Word/Excel, and February 28 Facebook. You may come for one class or for all four of the classes. They will be held at 1:00 pm each Tuesday in February.
New Building
If you go by the site for the new library you will see that we now have framing for the walls! I am getting so excited that I can hardly wait for it to be done. I love that it will be on one level with more room to spread out! It will be so much easier for our patrons who like me don’t do well with steps. By all means drive by and keep up on the progress of the new building! Remember that you may still donate towards the library or furnishings. You may send a donation in memory or honor of a loved one. If you have any questions please call us at the library and we will be happy to help you.
Friends of the Library
In 2012 we invite you to become a Friend of the Library. The Friends of the Library is a group of volunteers who work with the staff to enhance our facilities, provide a greater range of services and promote the Toulon Public Library District. You can become a Friend of the Library for a donation of $10.00 or by donating your time helping at the library. Volunteering is a good way to help with the library if you are unable to donate a monetary sum. All help is gladly accepted.
New Non-Fiction Books
We have received in new non-fiction books you may be interested in. Included in our latest order are: Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson, Bloody Times: The Funeral of Abraham Lincoln and the Manhunt for Jefferson Davis by James L. Swanson, and You Couldn’t Ignore Me If You Tried: the Brat Pack, John Hughes, and their impact on a generation by Susannah Gora.
New DVD’s
Linda has been busy processing new DVD’s for you to check out. When you stop in the library you may want to check out Downtown Abbey, The Help, Sarah’s Key, Friday Night Lights (complete series) Cars 2, Shark Boy and Lava Girl, and Tom & Jerry – Shiver Me Whiskers. I know I will be checking out some of these for when my grandson comes to visit!
