"Everyone knows that a man can always marry even if he reaches 102, is penniless, and has all his faculties gone. There is always some woman willing to take a chance on him. (from the Complete Book of Etiquette, 1952)"

Who are the FRIENDS and what do they do?

The Friends of the Berwyn Public Library are people just like you who enjoy the library and support its programs and services in a variety of ways, much like parents support schools through PTO's.

The Friends exist to raise money exclusively for library programs, materials, special equipment and services, and to promote the library in the community.  They generate financial support through fundraising events and membership dues.  The organization is led by a volunteer board of officers and maintains a close relationship with the library.  The Library Liaison to the Friends can be reached at 708-795-8000 ext. 3020.

The Friends primary fundraisers are the semi-annual book sales, held in April and October.  Donations from the community are accepted throughout the year to stock the book sales.  Volunteers sort materials and staff the sales.

The Friends have four meetings per year and host a series of programs.   These programs complement the library's mission to support literacy and lifelong learning.
