In Adam's Rib (1949), a witty and sophisticated courtroom comedy, prosecutor Adam Bonner (Spencer Tracy) is up against his defense attorney wife Amanda (Katharine Hepburn).  Amanda is defending Doris Attinger (Judy Holliday), on trial for the attempted murder of her cheating husband.  The legal battle carries outside the courtroom as the two lawyers come to new terms in their own marriage.
