2010 Summer Reading
2010 Summer Reading Challenge Grades 3-5

Choose at least 7 of the activities. Have a parent sign that you completed the item in the square, and bring your paper to the library during the 1st two weeks of school.
Explanation for * items:
* Read at least 8 books: Two bookstores are offering free books for reading during the summer. Links to the two sites are listed below under Other Summer Reading Opportunities.
* Log in minutes for the World Record: Scholastic is giving students around the world the opportunity to log in and record the minutes they read during the summer. The link to Scholastic's site is also listed under Other Summer Reading Opportunities.
* Establish a family D.E.A.R. time: D.E.A.R. means Drop Everything And Read. You set the "rules." Decide: how often (every day, on Saturdays, at random!), how long (5min., 10 min.,...) When it is D.E.A.R. time everyone stops and reads for the amount of time you determine. Don't make a fuss if your family misses a D.E.A.R. time - it does not need to be perfect, just full of reading fun!

Meet my new garden Gnome (yes, he does look like that famous gnome from TV!). I am reading The Alchemyst and listening to The Hunger Games while I weed and work on stuff that is not very exciting. Keep returning to this page to see where his adventures will take him!
GNOME ALERT!!!! The Gnome went camping in Springfield, Illinois! He listened to several books on the way.
The Gnome has a new adventure planned for the weekend! - Check back to see.
